March 3rd meeting

After posting about meeting on this blog, mentioned on another blog, being announced via a yahoo!group "sandiego_deaf", mass-email to those who are interested-- only 8 people showed up. What is the issue here? Community apathy? Not spreading the word wide enough? Prehaps you can help us solving this myster by posting a comment...??

Our Second attempt at collecting more nominations for all positions for CAD will be conducted on March 17th, St Patrick Day. (Remember, just because there is one name to the position doesn't mean you cannot sign up-- we accept many nominations as we can for one position. So please contact klaule@tmail or leave a comment here to submit your self-nomination for whatever position you want for the committee/board. )

March 17th, St Patrick's Day from 4pm to 6pm, there will be a CAD get-together at Callahan's Pub and Brewery (Yes, the very same place for DPHH. A coincidence) in Mira Mesa.
The address is 8111 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126

Come on down for the fun, meeting people, for food and drinks and SAME TIME, be involved with CAD!!!
We will try again with spreading words via this blog, emails, and flyers posted at DCS and passing out at deaf events, and YOU.
So spread the word for everybody to have a chance to partake in establishing CAD and get San Diego alive again!

(for map and directions, click here to see Callahan's on maps.google.com)
(If you want to be added to the mailing list regards to CAD's progress or events, please email klaule@tmail.com and request you to be added).

So far for the nominations, those people have signed up... (again-- just because there is already a name there doesn't mean they are automatically elected-- you can nominate yourself too!)
President: Kim L.
Vice-President: none
Treasuer: Kristen C.
Secretary: Kirsi G.
Membership Director: Teri
Member-at-Large (needs two): Clifton and none.

Hey you all - I admire for what you are doing. Do not give up if only 8 people showed up.

You see, the smaller the better to start with. And often when a small group is active, it becomes more attractive.

You are being active - keep it up! :)

Keep up the good work! Don't complain about 8 people showing up. 8 people is a lot for a new organization! San Diego Democratic Club which represents the GLBT community started in the 1970's only had about 5 members at its first meeting and now it is one of the most powerful organizations in San Diego and attracts A LOT of people at every meeting and they have a lot of influence in the city and county. So don't raise the bar too high for yourselves. 8 is a good start, keep building up activities and before you know it more people will join. I plan on being at the next meeting in mid-March. Wish I could have made it last weekend but I had a long planned conflict that I could not avoid. See you soon!
