Cancelled Meeting-- READ ON

April 21st meeting is CANCELLED at Kim Laule's notice.

If you wish to have a meeting, contact her at klaule@tmail.com and encourage her to conduct a meeting ASAP!!!
KEEP UP THE SPIRIT EVEN IF THE SUMMER IS ROLLING AROUND!!
There are many things you can do with CAD-- hosting a BBQ, hosting a July 4th get-together for all children and adults at some place and MANY MORE!

****

Kirsi, the secretary of the CAD chapter for Greater San Diego, opinion is inserted from here on and may not represent the entire chapter of Greater San Diego:
I think this is our final straw that broke the camel's hump. I am very sorry that I couldn't get the community to rise and get together to do something for SAN DIEGO. I am sorry if I didn't get out the word enough-- I felt I did my part best as I can-- I pushed and pushed.
Unfortunately, I am leaving in late July or early August, so somebody needs to step up and open up a line of communications with Kim Laule. Right now, we are stuck with her power of networking-- and she is not willing to share her networking among her friends who are in higher places in CAD. She is determined to become the president, regardless her inefficiency in a such position. You need to speak up. You, him, her, them, and everybody else! You kept complaining about how we operate our chapter-- well, DO SOMETHING!
Talk with us, talk with Kim, TALK WITH WHOMEVER IN THE CHAPTER.

If you are pointing out the problem, at least offer a solution to take action on!!!!!

Again, I implore you to contact Kim to show your concerns and support for the CAD chapter. We cannot relay on DCS for providing community events and recreations!!!

There may be a misunderstanding and/or miscommunication, but now her mind has been made-up-- Kim said St Patrick get-together is back on.

March 3rd meeting

After posting about meeting on this blog, mentioned on another blog, being announced via a yahoo!group "sandiego_deaf", mass-email to those who are interested-- only 8 people showed up. What is the issue here? Community apathy? Not spreading the word wide enough? Prehaps you can help us solving this myster by posting a comment...??

Our Second attempt at collecting more nominations for all positions for CAD will be conducted on March 17th, St Patrick Day. (Remember, just because there is one name to the position doesn't mean you cannot sign up-- we accept many nominations as we can for one position. So please contact klaule@tmail or leave a comment here to submit your self-nomination for whatever position you want for the committee/board. )

March 17th, St Patrick's Day from 4pm to 6pm, there will be a CAD get-together at Callahan's Pub and Brewery (Yes, the very same place for DPHH. A coincidence) in Mira Mesa.
The address is 8111 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126

Come on down for the fun, meeting people, for food and drinks and SAME TIME, be involved with CAD!!!
We will try again with spreading words via this blog, emails, and flyers posted at DCS and passing out at deaf events, and YOU.
So spread the word for everybody to have a chance to partake in establishing CAD and get San Diego alive again!

(for map and directions, click here to see Callahan's on maps.google.com)
(If you want to be added to the mailing list regards to CAD's progress or events, please email klaule@tmail.com and request you to be added).

So far for the nominations, those people have signed up... (again-- just because there is already a name there doesn't mean they are automatically elected-- you can nominate yourself too!)
President: Kim L.
Vice-President: none
Treasuer: Kristen C.
Secretary: Kirsi G.
Membership Director: Teri
Member-at-Large (needs two): Clifton and none.

First Official Meeting

On Feb. 3, 2007, a committee has been elected and approved as a chapter to represent the county of San Diego. The chapter's title is "Greater San Diego". The chapter is for California Association for the Deaf (aka CAD). We will perform as watchdogs and community center for our county where our members can come to learn and share our goals for the Deaf/HH community while enjoying our fun events that we will host in the future.

Membership form can be accessed on this web page where you can print out the form to be mailed along with the fees (maximum: 30$ for two years).

The committee is consisted of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, membership director, and directors-at-large. More roles can be added and filled if needed at further meetings.

*****

The meeting on February 3rd was conducted to elect the committee. The president is Kim, the vice-president is Kirsi, the secretary is Melissa, the treasurer is Kristen, the membership director is Tara, and finally the directors-at-large are Clifton and Karyn.

What does each position of the committee do?
The president of a chapter is the REPRESENTATIVE of the chapter so you will go out and speak for San Diego, you will deal with issues and decide how to distrubate the duties to your committee, and work with the president of CAD to let them know what is happening in your region/county.

The vice-president of a chapter's responsibilites are to relay issues/information/situations to the president, manage the inner system of committee (you deal with treauser, secratry, et cetera directly), basically all the dirty work behind the curtains are done by you to keep the president informed.

The secretary is to write down meeting, important information et cetera so everybody in the chapter can check up for facts, statements, et cetera.

The treasuer is to take care of funds, budget the chapter, and host fundraisers if needed.
Membership director is responsible for recuriting, taking care of membership fee (see CAD website), and making sure people are up to the date with their membership.

Directors-at-large are two positions to be filled-- one to represent the north side of county, another to represent the south side of county. Both works with assignment by President or VP to investigate a complaint, a situation, et cetera-- be detectives whom then relay the details back to the president.

*****

There will be a meeting on March 3rd, 2007 to recruit members and conduct a discussion with what vision we should take up on. More information will be posted on this blog.

(There is a state-wide meeting for all CAD chapter hosted at CSU-Sacramento, however we are a fairly new chapter so we are exempted from attending the state-wide CAD meeting. )
